ABU: Airbrush University.... YEAH BABY!

From June 24 to June 28 I had the opportunity to take part in the Airbrush University at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. What a great time. I took the class with Mike Learn. Wow..did I get schooled! I learned a ton of new stuff, made amazing new friends and had so much fun in and after class. Oh yeah...after class was a riot! As a student, you get the opportunity to walk in other class when you need a break so I was fortunate to learn not only from Mike, but from Nub, Steve Leahy, Keith Hanson, Scott McKay and D-Man. Thanks guys for such a good time. You guys are the most passionate people I have ever met and I can only aspire to grow up to be like all of you as an artist. You are an inspiration.

Introduction to airbrush

Class given at Tandem School in Victoriaville

On May 16 I had the pleasure of teaching a class to 2 groups of teenagers at the high school Le Tandem in Victoriaville.

These oh so fun groups of students could’ve have a day off but they decided to come to school even though it was a beautiful sunny day to learn about airbrush.

They were taught the basics: A little theory about the airbrush, all the materials needed and paint, then off to practice the basic strokes and experiment with the airbrush.

Some of them had brought T-shirts to try and airbrush them and what nice shirts they did! Very impressive.

Those students were full of life and creativity. They all have potential to go far in whatever path they choose to take!

A special thanks to Mr Pierre Bolduc for giving me the opportunity to join them to teach this airbrush workshop.

Beginners class for the ATBQ on Feb. 16 2008

The ATBQ is the association of wood turners of Quebec. This class included all the basics from what is an airbrush to different models of airbrush, how to take them apart and clean, reassembly, types of paints and many basic exercises to get some airbrush control.

This group was one of the best I ever had! These people were so nice and so fun to hang with. Everyone seemed pleased with the class and some even bought airbrushes. Thank to Diana Learn, she was able to send me the airbrushes I needed in time for the class.

Rodeo Mecanik 2007 in Tingwick

This summer we had a booth at the Rodeo Mecanik, one of the biggest event in the motorcycle world in the province of Quebec. Annie was painting live in front of people a panel that was giving to a charity auction to help raise funds for diabetes. Lots of fun and lots of burned rubber throughout the day!!!

Annie wins First place at the Show us your Cans contest!

The contest took place at www.learnairbrush.com where the contestant had to submit airbrush work done on a can: no matter what kind of can it was, whether it’s a soda can or a 45 gallon, the art subject was free. The winners were chosen in different categories by popular vote. Annie won the best of show and received cool prizes given by Mike and Diana Learn (Stencils, hoodie sweater, stickers and more) and a pint of paint given by SEM paint, sent by Mr Ron Fleenor himself. Thanks Guys!!!
